Sales Training
Selling Healthy Grown® Potatoes requires the same concern and care as selling all potatoes.  Attract shoppers and provide the most healthful product available by keeping them fresh, visually appealing, and in good condition.

Protecting your potato stock is not difficult; however, it does require attention. Here’s a brief outline of what you and your produce manager can do to keep your Healthy Grown® Potatoes fresh.

In the Warehouse:
• Keep Healthy Grown® Potatoes in a controlled environment
• Minimize time spent in light, either natural or artificial (fluorescent lights are   particularly damaging to Healthy Grown® Potatoes)
• Temperature is the most important. Do not chill Healthy Grown® Potatoes below
  35° F or store them long-term above 50° F
• Keep Healthy Grown® Potatoes palletized
• Avoid flavor transference by storing Healthy Grown® Potatoes away from such
items as pears, apples, garlic, or onions
• Allow air to circulate around stored pallets
• Maintain proper humidity – if a humidification system is not available, keeping the
warehouse floor wet can raise the humidity to a proper level. Be careful to prevent
  wetting the potatoes themselves

On the Retail Floor:
• Limit exposure to light as much as possible
• Rotate stock on a daily basis
• Do not mist potatoes as water encourages sprouting
• Handle potatoes carefully to prevent bruising
• Maintain a sanitary display area

With proper handling, storage, and display of your Healthy Grown® Potatoes you will be able to minimize shrinkage, bruising, and other damage to your stock so you can offer customers the most nutritious, best-looking potatoes available while maximizing profits.
