WPGA Auxiliary
In 1975, a group of supporters of the Wisconsin Potato & Vegetable Growers Association — namely wives and family members of the growers — decided that an Auxiliary could be an effective outreach resource to help enhance communication to consumers. They believed that by educating consumers about the nutritional and food dollar value of Wisconsin potatoes, the industry would be able to increase demand for their products.
Over the past decades, the Wisconsin Potato Growers Auxiliary has found creative and effective ways to reach consumers. They have produced cookbooks, served hundreds of thousands of baked potatoes at the Wisconsin State Fair, and produced high quality educational materials for educators and foodservice professionals.
These dedicated Auxiliary members have tirelessly attended conventions and conferences to help bring the message of nutrition about Wisconsin’s potato varieties to members of the public and industry partners. They have also hosted familiarization tours for food editors and writers from across the country and contribute their own monthly column that appears in the Association’s publication, The Badger Common’Tater.
